What Is Skrill (Moneybookers)?

Note:Starting January 3rd of 2018, we will no longer be using Skrill as an authorized payment method. Please feel free to refer customers to this link https://www.skrill.com/en-us/skrill-prepaid-mastercard/ for more information (this program is managed by Skrill and may not be available in all regions).

Originally called Moneybookers, Skrill is an eWallet (much like PayPal®) that is used as a payment method. Please feel free to refer customers to this link https://www.skrill.com/en-us/skrill-prepaid-mastercard/ for more information (this program is managed by Skrill and may not be available in all regions).

Because Skrill is a well-known and trusted international payment method, customers can easily fund their Skrill wallet (and thus make payments) with a variety of popular local payment methods like:

  • Local ATM/Debit/Credit cards
  • Instant Banking
  • Local Bank Transfers
  • The available balance in their Skrill eWallet.

Skrill eWallets work with us in the following ways:

  • Skrill uses our Pending Order system, but many of the payment methods available through Skrill are authorized and completed almost immediately.
  • Payment profiles aren't stored for Skrill, so it can’t be used for validation or recurring payments.
  • If a refund from a Skrill eWallet occurs more than 6 months after the original sale, the refund may appear in the customer’s Skrill account with a different notation (i.e. the refund doesn't reference the original purchase).

When a customer pays with their Skrill eWallet, they are redirected to Skrill’s website to authenticate their account, choose a method of payment, and then confirm their payment before returning to our website.

Note: This also means that we can't process Skrill orders for customers, only they can process their Skrill orders.

There are some restricted payment options where promo codes are concerned to prevent abuse of one-code-per-customer promos.

Skrill has the same transaction minimum of most of our payment methods: 1.00 USD, or the currency equivalent that's calculated at that time. However, there can be exceptions to this rule.

Some of the selected payment methods, like Online Banking, may also include an additional redirect to the bank’s website.
